Barbara Mitchell is a Registered Social Worker and a member in good standing of the Ordre des Travailleurs Sociaux et des Thérapeutes Conjugaux et Familiaux du Québec.  She has completed a B.S.W. and M.S.W. from McGill University.  Barbara also holds a certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University.  She is currently completing the supervised clinical hours required toward obtaining her psychotherapy permit through supervised practice at Grey Zone Psychology & Wellness Centre.

 

Barbara has extensive experience working in the public and private sectors for more than 25 years experience.  She has worked as a social worker providing counselling and support services to youth and families in a variety of public settings including youth protection services and a hospital day treatment program.  She has provided psychosocial assessments for families experiencing separation and divorce.  For the past six years, Barbara has provided short term family counselling as well as short term individual counselling for adolescents and adults in the private sector.   She has worked with people presenting a variety of issues or concerns including anxiety, depression, workplace conflict and family relationship or transition .

 

Barbara takes a collaborative approach to working with clients.  She endeavours to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere that is respectful to client priorities and goals.
