REBECCA YOUNG, B.A., M.S.W.

Social Worker

Rebecca Young is a registered social worker (Ordre des Travailleurs Sociaux et des Thérapeutes Conjugaux et Familiaux de Quebec), holding a BA in psychology from Concordia University, and a Master’s in Social Work from McGill University. Her research focused on understanding and improving ways to promote family or caregiver support for clients supporting a loved one with a mental health issue.

 

For over 10 years, Rebecca has worked in several clinical settings, including readaptation centres, hospital in- and outpatient units, youth protection, and intensive case management services. There, Rebecca has received training in crisis prevention and intervention, suicide risk assessment, clinical case management, as well as several approaches for helping people with an autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disability.

 

She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults and their families to address diverse and complex needs. She has worked with a broad clientele, including diagnoses of intellectual disability, autism, mental health and a range of psychosocial issues.

 

A humanistic practitioner at heart, Rebecca prioritizes building rapport with clients. Her practice is grounded in the evidence base to offer a tailored, empirically supported, client-centered service that is shown to improve outcomes. She is known for her ability to develop a strong therapeutic alliance with clients, become attuned to their needs, and offer an individualized and meaningful service.
