VALERIE MCDONNELL, M.A.

Valerie is a licensed counsellor with the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec (OCCOQ) since 2009. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology degree from Concordia University. Valerie completed an internship at Summit School in Montreal, providing individual and group counselling for adolescents and young adults aged 16 to 21 with autism, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning disorders. She then received training in cognitive and behavioural assessments in adults through her experience as a specialized career counsellor in a community setting.
Valerie also previously worked in adapted services in post-secondary, providing services to students requiring accommodations. Additionally, Valerie works as a counsellor in reeducation for the Lester B. Pearson School Board. She assists in psychoeducational assessments (e.g., attention, behaviour, learning) and counselling support in elementary and high school settings, where she aims to offer students and their families a safe and collaborative approach. She is fully bilingual in English and French.
